2021 - Continue with your current Program

For 2021 (and earlier), there are no changes to the Bachelor of Veterinary Technology [2387]. No action is required from you and you can continue your study, following the program rules and course list from the year you commenced.

There will be a small number of courses that will no longer be available to study. We recommend that you read through the information available on the 'Key Changes (2021)' tab in conjunction with the pre-2021 Bachelor of Veterinary Technology study planner, which has been updated with any changes to courses required or recommended for your program.

2022 - New changes to the Program

The Bachelor of Veterinary Technology underwent an Academic Program Review (APR) in 2021. The approved changes to this program will take effect from 2022. 

For students who commenced the program prior to 2022, no action is required from you and you can continue your study, following the program rules and course list from the year you commenced.

To view the changes being introduced from 2022 we recommend you read through the information available on the ‘Key Changes (2022)’ tab.

There have been no significant changes made to the Bachelor of Veterinary Technology.

You’ll notice that the structure of the revised program and program rules have changed slightly.

It will be replaced by VETS2007 from Semester 2 2023.  VETS2007 will be a Compulsory Level 2 course.

This Compulsory year-long course will be discontinued after the 2023 offering.

It will be replaced by NEW course VETS2043 from Semester 2 2023 as a Compulsory Level 2 course.  It will be single-semester duration and moving to Year 2 of the program.
VETS2009 Animal & Veterinary ContextsN/AThis NEW Compulsory Level 2 course is being introduced from Semester 2 2023 into Year 2 of the program.
VETS3046 Professional Practice (4 units)N/A

Update from December 2023 - VETS3046 will not be introduced in 2024, students will complete VETS3048 Professional Practice (8 units).

This NEW Compulsory Level 3 course is being introduced from Semester 2 2024 into Year 3 of the program.

Minimum of 14 units of level 3 courses.

Students studying the pre-2022 program are permitted to enrol into any new/recoded courses, providing they are available and any prerequisites requirements have been met.
